John Tilly is a nationally and internationally recognised level crossing expert having studied such matters at Sheffield University on his MSc in Railway Systems Engineering. He has managed the application of the Level Crossings Act 1983 across the UK (all railways) whilst at HM Railway Inspectorate and investigated many serious level crossing accidents, including the Ufton train crash. He instigated the set-up of the National Level Crossing Safety Group (now known as the Road Rail Interface Group); has been a member of the Level Crossing Sub Group reporting to the EU DG TREN High level Group on Road Safety and more recently the European Level Crossing Research Forum (ELCRF). He is an advisor to the English and Scottish Law Commissions (who are currently reviewing all level crossing legislation within the UK).
 
Level Crossing Order Production: Señalización Ltd can produce draft level crossing Orders to a high standard and arrange for the production of the covering letters required to start the process for any UK railway company. Clients will need to fill in a short questionnaire for a quotation. If site visits are required this will increase the costs of producing the Order.

Additionally, Señalización Ltd can act as your agent in managing the process on behalf of the railway company concerned.

Training: Currently Señalización Ltd can offer two training courses:

"Level Crossing Basics" - this course is a 2 day residential event and includes both classroom and site visits and covers the basic UK level crossing types and the relevant legislation. The course is suitable for railway, highway and other personnel wishing to understand UK practice.

"Level Crossing Order Compliance" - this course is a 2 day residential event and includes both classroom and site visits and outlines what is required to comply with the contents of a level crossing Order within the UK. The course is aimed principally at railway personnel wishing to understand UK practice.

Both courses are based in the Doncaster area with site visits in the same area and includes copies of all presentation material. Minimum 6 candidates, Maximum 12 candidates.

This company is operated in accordance with legislation applicable within the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
All payments made to, or from, the company will be made in UK Pounds Sterling (£'s). Cheques will only be accepted from a bank accounts located within the United Kingdom.
Overseas clients will meet any foreign exchange costs incurred in any foreign currency transactions.
Daily fee rates are based on an 8 hour working day including any travelling time (excluding lunch breaks) and assume that work activity takes place during normal weekday business hours - 0800-1800hrs. VAT will be added to all invoices at current rates. Invoices will be submitted every two weeks to clients with payment due in 30 days. Discounted fee rates may be offered for prompt payment of invoices within 14 days or 7 days.
Work undertaken 'Out of Office Hours' will incur additional fees.
